The Stats a Gem provides depends on the item slot you put it into.The Abyss is a mod I made for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Once a Gem is put into an item, it will provide Stats according to the item slot and the only way to remove it is using the Horadric Cube recipe Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal, which destroy the Gems in the process. Due to crafting and the Horadric Cube recipe to reroll Magic Items (frequently used for Grand Charm s) they have a decent value in trading. In addition to socketing into items, Gems are used for crafting Items, upgrading Runes and numerous other Horadric Cube recipes. An upgraded Gem provides the same Stats as the lower quality, but with increased values. They can be upgraded by putting 3 Gems of the same type and quality into the Horadric Cube. There are a total of 7 different Gem types with 5 quality levels. Gems are a very important resource in Diablo 2 with a variety of different uses.
